Claimant says:
"In oct, 2012 during a routine exam my dentist noticed a possible problem. she recommended that i have the area biopsied. I then spoke with the person who does the billing and she gave me an estimate of what the procedure would cost, about $200. I agreed to the cost and scheduled an appointment with the oral surgeon who explained the procedure which would include the use of anesthesia. i was told by the billing person that the anesthesia might not cover the cost but was checking to see. she called me several days after the consult I was told my insurance would not pay for the anesthesia which was around $175. I agreed to pay out of pocket for the anesthesia. on the day of my procedure i was being prepped for the biopsy i was being hooked up an iv and given a paper that asked who my medical insurance provider was. i told them i would need my purse (being held by my friend in the waiting room) they said to just write the company name, which i did. the biopsy was done and i waited for the results. i had one more appointment with the oral surgeon who gave me the results of my test, it was negative. after a few weeks i received a bill from Oral Pathology Diagnostic svc for $570. i was shocked. during all of my appointments, the fact that a separate place was going to charge anything was NEVER discussed. when i brought this fact up to the supervisor at perfect teeth she simply said all procedure and protocol had been followed and that was that. i then called the district manager named Keegan Hosler who said he would look at everything and get back to me. after waiting 2 weeks i finally called him back and he repeated that all procedures and protocol was followed and if i had a beef with anyone it was the lab. the lab did nothing wrong. it is perfect teeth who should have informed me that there would be a separate lab fee which was NEVER done. when i asked mr Hosler for his supervisor's name he started yelling at me and refused to give me the name of his boss. he also said they had proof that i had been told but when i told him to mail me copies which he never did. he was totally unprofessional and rude.so i ended our phone call and paid my lab fees.

Again, i was NEVER told that there would be such a lab fee. it they had i would not have had the procedure done. all totaled the proceedure cost me about $1,000. i would like my money back and Mr Hosler should be held accountable for his rude behavior and for not even trying to work with me on this manner. to this day, i do not have any paperwork from anybody proving that i had been told, if it even exists."

  • This is a patient that doesn’t even have a bill from Perfect Teeth. It was for a biopsy done at Olive and she signed the consents for treatment and the biopsy and the estimate from the outside lab. The bill she is disputing is from the lab that did the biopsy and not Perfect Teeth. The bill was her responsibility and she understands this fact.
