Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On July 23,2012 we bought a 1999 Ford Taurus Wagon. Within 4 days we took it back because it started to have so many mechanical problems that even our mechanic wouldn't fix it because he didn't know where to begin. Within 2 weeks the auto place put us in a 1998 Premiere Silhouette Oldsmobile and it started having problems 2 weeks after we bought it. We replaced the ty rods, sway bar, bushings, and the cabin air filter. We spent $700. Our mechanic said it would also need a new rack and pinion. Then 2 weeks after that the catalytic converter started to go and then the transmission. We paid an extra $900 for the van. All together we paid $4129.00 and now we have nothing. We have complained to the place and they have refused to do anything. They complained because of the mileage we put on it, but we have 2 children who see Neurologists in Chicago and we can't afford 2 cars. We tried to get them to fix it but they refused but what we really want is our money back. I requested a refund late July but they refused. Their Autocheck reports claim that these vehicles were 1 owner but I got a Carfax and they had multiple owners. They use tese dianostic devices when they show cars but the devices don't show anything they have to be rigged or something. The owner Brian said after we had problems with the 2nd vehicle that everyone says they have problems with their cars. My son asked about a Dodge Durango there but they said that it had problems. I have a Plymouth with 20,000 more miles than the Oldsmobile and it has never had a trans or converter problem. Also the air compressor went out after the place installed an air hose."

  • When does goodwill end? As outlined by Mr. Coleman the Coleman’s purchased a 1999 ford Taurus wagon and after owning it for a couple days it began having issues. Even though they purchased it as- is and shown the last thing we wanted was to have someone to experience major problems in a short period of time. The Coleman’s were calm and we worked together to find them something that would accommodate there needs. We had a 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette come in and we showed it to them before we even had a chance to run it through the shop.
While being inspected we found it need rear shocks and front pads and rotors and replaced it all. Once repaired we had it detailed and the Coleman’s were extremely happy with there purchase. Bill had some concern at the time of purchase that the air didn’t seen like it was getting cooled enough. We had him bring it back in and we replaced the a\c lines from front to rear at No cost to them. The work was done at the shop next to us and cost us approximately $650.00 to ensure Bill that his business is valued and we stand behind our words.
One major factor that has been left out of this complaint is, in little over the two months they’ve own this van they have put approximately 8000 miles on this van. If they would have purchased a 6 month 6000 mile service contract, it still wouldn’t have been covered. In all fairness, we contacted the BBB explained the issue with the transmission, the mileage they accumulated and asked for there position on this, the reply we got was how can you be responsible when someone put that amount of miles on a vehicle in that short of a time. It isn’t like they purchased a new vehicle and as anyone puts additional mileage on a vehicle problems will arise.
They average person accumulates 1250 miles per month. They drove 7 months of driving in 2 ‘what’s wrong with this picture? How are we to know if any poor treatment has occurred? The overall condition of the van inside or out is pitiful. It looks like it had never been detailed.
We regret you’ve had a problem, but after reviewing your concern we can’t help you.
