Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Amount on shelf not matching sales receipt when checked out. Also the way the register is programed receipt is very confusing. On all there buy one get one 1/2 price never discounts propery. (Example) On 2pk crew neck T-shirts says buy one get one 50% off price is $20.00 when rang up only discounts $9.01 on one pkg. instead of $10.00. costing me .99 too much on that one purchase With all their buy one and 50% off on second one they overcharging a tremendous amount of money. Misleading customers while padding their profits. Thanks Rufus"

  • I received a letter from the store leader/manager Carolyn J.C. Penny's Washington Mo. In the letter she stated she tried to call however my phone number listed was incorrect anyway (not so) may have misdialed? In the letter also she asked for additional information mainly did I have the receipts. She would need the supporting documentation so she could better understand my concerns and help specify my concerns. Name tittle and phone number etc! was at the bottom of the page. I started the next day calling after a few missed calls to each other. She got in contact with my wife Marcia she told the manager I had the receipts. Also I needed to see her in person to explain how we are overcharged and other problems. They set a appointment for me at 9AM Tuesday 10/21/ 2014. I was there at 9am before the store opened she let right in. I had 6 receipts to go over with her. Proving how hard it was with their breakdown of coupon and clearance discounts divided not evenly among the like items purchased. Plus I showed her where I purchased items came back in and then they corrected it at register. I showed her again how confusing the receipts were very hard to tell if you were overcharged. Her reply was when you checkout at register the register don't always pick up on clearance and/or discounted items . However if you see you were charged wrong with out even checking the signs or counter they will re-do the sale correctly. Same rule applies if see you were overcharged and see it when you get home. She claimed when you are mischarged on a item or items that by just taking your word for it and making a refund or correction is providing good customer service? She further said that is the way it is set up at Corporate office. Nothing she can do about it at store level. I told her this was very unacceptable. She made copies of my receipts told me she would forward them to the home office and see what happens. Long story short if you realize you didn't get proper discounts then they will correct it without even checking it. chances are the way the receipts are you will have to look hard to know. I am waiting for a reply !

Message from Claimant: After meeting with the store manager here in Washington Mo. She convinced me they are aware the registers don't always reflect the discounts shown. She stated it was up to us to catch any mischarged items. Then they would return or refund the purchase. At times this policy as she called it (this policy) of not checking the counter pricing and just making a return or refund on our word. Once in awhile they could overcorrect the refund or return. However it is obvious this is another policy to overcharge customers for more bottom line profit ! I kept getting returns and refunds proving I was overcharged. They will not correct the problem ! All you need to do is add up the clearance discounts showing on each item. Then check toward bottom of receipt for that total of discounts. Easiest way to check clearance discounts for incorrect charges.. Individual clearance discounts on the tkt. add up more than that receipt total says you got. This just part of the problem !
