Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I enrolled my 2 children in tutoring services at the Frederick Maryland branch location. They gladly accepted my payment in full of $15,208. They more or less discourage a payment plan by charging exhorbitant fees. I was assured, and it states in the contract, that any unused services are entitled to a full refund. Since 1) I had this in writing 2) it has not been disputed that refunds were promptly provided 3) I thought Huntington Learning Centers was a reputable company 4) I saw no BBB complaints filed against them...I thought it was ok to provide payment in full.

The Frederick Maryland branch office closed down due to financial problems. When I contacted the corporate office in New Jersey they placed my account with Antoinette Cummins, Senior Operations Coordinator, who while was initially polite and seemed to want to help by providing me the phone number of a different local office that supposedly could assist me, later became completely unhelpful and seemed to more or less "throw her hands up" as she could do no more.

Ms. Cummins provided me the phone number for a Rebecca Weaver who was supposedly who could assist me in obtaining my approximately $11,310.12 refund. The number that I was provided was incorrect. When I asked for a valid number or for a 3-way call to be initiated so that I could be placed in direct contact with the appropriate person, the response I received was "The information that was provided to you is the information that we have in our system. At this time, I do not have another form of contact to provide your with regarding Beck[y] Weaver. If you are choosing to take legal action we can provide with the financial record we have on file."

I find it impossible that there is no other form of contact and that this business can gladly take the money from a widowed, single mother of two, but not provide the refund I am entitled to receiving for my two children. My children have lost the benefit of these funds potentially accruing interest in their college savings plans. Huntington has had the full benefit of my money and any interest it has accrued.

I just want my hard earned money back. I just want what I am entitled to - MY MONEY. It's not their money."

  • Still there is no further contact from this company so I am STILL out of money. I got one response from the company asking for my contact information, I provided and then they have made no attempt at further contact!!!

  • I worked for Huntington in California and I became aware of their deceptive business practices first hand. I quit because I did not want to take part in lying and cheating people who wanted help for their children.
    Anyone considering enrolling their kids in a Huntington Learning Center should read all the reviews online before shelling out big bucks for mediocre services.
