Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I purchased an item at auction. The item received was defective. I was instructed to return the item to the seller. I did so with a delivery confirmation from the USPS. Ebay refused to refund my money, $295.00, because they say I didn't get a signature from the seller who received the returned package. The info that I received from the eBay customer service did not specify a required signature. It said "Please secure a valid tracking number in order for us to hold the seller accountable and issue on their behalf." This I did. The package was delivered and confirmed by the tracking info. The line I pointed to when speaking with customer service, when I found they would not be refunding my money is this: "In the future, for items $250 USD (or local currency equivalent) or more, proof of the recipients signature is required for us to assist you with your refund." I pointed to that line and sent a response to their fax line: I don't know about you, but "in the future" means tomorrow, not today. They have not responded to my fax and I am at a loss how to recover the lost funds."

  • Have you attempting simply working something out with the seller? It has been a long time since I have purchased anything from E-Bay and I am sure their practices have changed but since working with the intermediary is not working and the seller received their merchandise back, have you asked the seller to simply refund the money they received from you?
