Dear June and Asa Aldredge,Thank you for contacting us in regards to the claim placed on your 2005 Ford F-350. After review of your claim, it was determined by your repair facility and confirmed by the independent inspection that the failure was a cracked cylinder head caused by a poor casting process by Ford Motor Company. Ford Motor Company published the Technical Service Bulletin 09-26-1 (also attached) on 12/16/2009 which explains in detail how the failure of your vehicle’s cylinder head was not caused by a covered component but by a faulty manufacturer casting. As per your service agreement, failures of the cylinder heads are only covered if damaged by an internally lubricated part such as pistons, valves or rockers. The failure exhibited to your cylinder heads is not the result of an internally lubricated part but from the failure obtained during the manufacturing process of the cylinder head. At this time and as per your service agreement’s terms and conditions we are unable to cover the failure of your vehicle’s cylinder head. I see nothing in this attachment where it refers to a bad casting or relates a casting number to our truck. It is also not listed in your warranty manual that services are not covered if the manufacturer (FORD) has published an article about a problem to which your vehicle falls into those parameters.
You will see in your contract (also Attached) on page 14 paragraph 11 that all items listed under a Technical Service Bulletin by a manufacturer would not be listed for coverage. The TSB attached lists the effected models and model years which your vehicle would fall into. You will also see that a cylinder head is also not listed as covered unless damaged by an internally lubricated part of the engine assembly that is listed in the coverages section of your warranty booklet.
And again in the attachment you sent via this email there is nothing Ifound to substantiate that Ford acknowledgesa problem with our truck.$800 was appx cost just for diagnosis for Dealer Services to then back out of claim.We have been told in the recent past now by dealerships that aftermarket warranties almost never pay.Contracts are worded to protect the company andare geared to individuals who do not have resources to find or knowledge.You have to go to bed with your conscience.
Please see the attached technical service bulletin published by Ford. Also please note that the cylinder head is not covered unless damaged by an internally lubricated part of the engine.
