  • While the process of applying for a loan modification can be extremely frustrating, unfortunately, there is currently no requirement that a bank or mortgage company has to modify your mortgage or loan. There are programs that are available for modification, and steps a mortgage company has to take in review, but there is no guarantee that a modification will be offered, even when paperwork has been submitted for those programs. I would encourage you to get in contact with HUD approved housing counselor as soon as possible, to help you with the modification paperwork and see if you can qualify for a loan modification. Also, you should find out what type of loan you have, to find out what kind of modification you could be reviewed for. Please keep in mind that there is the possibility that a modification may not be approved, so if you can, continue to put money aside in case, so you can possibly negotiate a reinstatement of your loan.
