Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I was an employee for almost 18 years at Bagels on Broadway. I was hired as the manager from the day that it opened 12/13/1993. I had a contract stating that I would have health insurance, sick pay and vacation. I did get the vacation, even though I only took 3 vacations in those years. I was paid for sick days, even though 99 % were used for my kids (single Mom). Never got the Health insurance.
I was laid off 09/20/2011, Sue Thompson stated that she could no longer afford to pay me the wages that I was making. I had not had a raise in over nine years (she had).
I was excited about finally being able to buy a house for my disabled son that she even came to look at and said that it sounded good. Sue Thompson laid me off 5 days later.
All that I am asking for is a good reference. I came to find out that she is not giving the information that is required. When asked IF I am eligible for rehire she says (in a rude manner) that the conversation is over and hangs up on the person. There is so much more to tell about all of this, but it would probably put her out of business. All I want is the recommendation. I at least deserve that after all those years of apparently wasting my life. Ask her how her retirement fund is going. Bet it's great.
She treats her employees terrible, nothing to her to yell at someone in front of customers.
She never used to be this way until about 6 years ago.
Someone needs to step in and confront her. She is very HEARTLESS.
The reference letter I did get from her only stated the duties that I had to do on a daily basis. I have GREAT customer service and managed my crew well.
When she went on her vacations or just to see her son. I was always there to handle things so that she didn't have to worry. Things always went well. We were all less stressed when Sue wasn't around."
