Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On Jan. 17,2016 I filed an insurance claim with Asurion, paid the $200 deductible to receive a new device. Jan 19,2016 I received the new device, placed the old device in the return envelope that was provided by Asurion and dropped it in the mail box at my residence on Wednesday Jan.20, 2016. March 2016 I checked my statement online and saw a $580.00 charge in addition to my bill, I immediately contacted Sprint and they advised me that Asurion applied a non returned equipment fee to my bill. I was given the run around by Sprint, Asurion, and the Post office. Neither of the three could provide me an explanation as to why the device could not be found,tracked or even help me come to a resolution on how to resolve my issue other than paying the $580 on top of the $200 deductible that I previously paid to even get the new device. Eventually, Sprint gave me a 30 day extension on my bill but still refused to remove the fee from my bill. In April 2016 my services were suspended but to the $580.00 still not being paid. Again, I contacted Sprint, they gave m the run around and advised me to contact Asurion again, and I did, they basically told me the same story as previously, that they had no record of the device being scanned or returned and they were not will to remove the fee from my bill. In May 2016 the same issue happened again. Sprint suspended my services for not paying for a device that I had returned exactly how the instructions on the package instructed me to in January 2016. It is now June 2016, this issue is still not resolved, I am overly frustrated with Sprint and Asurion.

  • What a stupid return policy. It's asking for trouble. It's a mystery to me why anyone buys phone insurance anyway (my credit card provides it free) but if Asurion has asinine return policies like that I'm doubly glad I've never bought one of their policies.
