Claimant says:
"My name is Virginia White, member #70059 (American Standard ID). This letter is in reference to requesting a refund of $199.00 for your services in securing a home or property for two senior citizens in the Altadena, CA 91001 area. We experienced not having any response to close to 50 letters sent out and constant calling to get as many listings as possible to get ahead of the almost instant selling of properties out from under us. So, with that being stated, I am requesting a refund as soon as possible. I have called and email this request and now I am writing as per agreement to the contract. [This a partial letter sent to American Standard] The home owners are to respond to the letters. Not one response was honored. Now AS wants me to send more letter to see if the owners would reject the offers made thereby validating my request. How is that possible, when the owners, whose names I never had, probably threw away the envelopes addressed to simple "Owner" and would do the same should another letter arrive addressed the same way. Every AS representative told me that all I had to do was wait for an owner to respond to them and they would contact me for setting up a viewing time with that owner. I asked repeatedly was that all I had to do. Now they want me to go back through the same process and wait to see if anyone responds. They just do not want to refund the money due. The 90 days were from March 17 - June 17. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May; was in surgery on the 17th of June; went back for more surgery in July and just completed the last surgery this past September 3rd. I wrote them on August 4, 2014. I did not hear anything from them in regards to completing an additional step to recoup the money until I called today. I am 73 years old woman and can't believe the greed that is happening in this country by finding more and more ways to get seniors to pay and pay when incomes are so low.
