Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On 7/24/13 I had an appointment w/Frida Emalange, the owner of 3 Zora's Beauty Salons. She was to dreadlock my hair. She did not complete the process on that date telling me I had to make another appt to finish the process, only doing the back of my head! She knew I was visiting family in Bellingham, once living there myself. (I now live in Tucson).
She made the comment I could fly back to complete the process! She also constantly answered the telephone during my appt! robbing me of paid time, yet charging me for it @$75.00 an hour for 3 hrs! I was able to make an appt for the following Mon. Her receptionist phoned me the next day asking if I could come on 7/25/13. I said yes.
I kept my appt. She constantly complained of a migraine taking breaks AND answering the phone. She charged me for 2 hours when only giving 1 1/2 hours of service! I questioned why and she answered she rounds her time off to the nearest hour. I foolishly let her talk me into buying 2 hair products totally $65.76 plus giving her a tip. Aside from the tip, I paid her cash, a total of $440.76 not counting the tip. I have a receipt. I SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE POLICE BEFORE PAYING!
Here is my complaint! She made a rat's nest of my hair!! Afterwards I went to 2 prominent hair techs in Bellingham, (not telling them where I'd had my hair done) asking their opinion of my dreads. Neither could believe what they saw & said I should go to Frida to get it corrected. She is the one w/the reputation for doing the best professional dreads in Bellingham!! I went back & showed my hair to the same receptionist @Zora's. Even she was surprised @my hair & suggested to show Frida & ask Frida to fix it.
I came back the next day professionally trying to reason w/Frida. I usually can get repoure w/people. She was unreasonable & wouldn't listen, telling me it will take 6 months for the dreads to become real, then come back & see her! My hair was such a mess, I had to have someone trim the frayed ends and sides. I've had hair break off & fall in my hand. She used a crochet hook to dread my hair. Some of the dreads are coming undone!!
I phoned her yesterday, 8/29/13, telling here how my hair condition has worsened. She constantly raised her voice on the phone interrupting me, accusing me of using her for a bank because I asked for some of my money back because I need to now pay someone to fix my hair. She was extremely rude & unprofessional to me. When I told her she had a choice to either refund my money or I would take her to small Claims Court she screamed at me & hung up on me!
I take responsibility for hiring her. I feel she took advantage of me by not finishing my hair the first day thus making me come back to overcharge me. She probably figured because I lived in another state she didn't have to have any integrity w/her work either. I'm serious about wanting a refund. My hair is such a mess and damaged it's covered daily!!
She is NOT the person w/the reputation she used to have. I TRUSTED her.She is self absorbed w/herself and her money, forgetting about the definition of Prosperity and very GREEDY!! I never asked for all of my money back, only part of it in order to repair the damage she caused. Now I want a total refund. I tried 2 times to be reasonable w/her. She is too arrogant to even LISTEN and obviously inept! I have to pay somebody professional to repair my hair that I have consulted with. And it isn't going to be her! She had that opportunity when I was in Bellingham! She showed no Pride in her work or hair design!"

You underestimated me as a professional person Frida!! I'm sure you will have an ANGRY comeback like you have for each one of my concerns. SHAME ON YOU!!

  • The SADDEST part of this story is Frida knew the hair she was touching was beautiful as a result of new growth from recovery from Chemo Therapy from Cancer Treatment. I rarely bring attention to this. But it sickens me when I see in the mirror the damage she created and what I feel in my fingers she did to my hair! There is no reason for her to disrespect ANYBODY'S body the way she disrespected my body!
