"Yelp allows its reviewers to write anything they want about businesses even if it is completely false. If you try and talk to yelp about this, they say it is out of their hands. Customers can run smear campaigns against your business, make up false accusations even blackmail and hurt your business and yelp refuses to do anything about it. All the bad 4 reviews appear on the front while all 16 5 star reviews hidden in the filtered ones .Our business gets hurt as a result of Yelp's "filter system"."

  • This is an extremely common complaint on this site, as well as others. However, Yelp itself, as well as other third party review sites, are not responsible or liable for the postings of reviews on their site. In this situation, if you feel that the claims are easy to respond to, you can file a rebuttal or disclaimer to the reviews. If you feel that they are potentially false, misleading, or malicious in nature, you could potentially have some rights against the posters themselves, but not against Yelp. It also seems that it is near impossible to withdrawn company information from the website. Hopefully at some point, the company will realize that something is not working in its business practice and amend it, but until then, filing disclaimers and looking at the posters themselves seem to be the options.
