Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I purchased a $2500 Platinum vehicle service contract for my truck at time of purchase for 5 years 100,00 miles. My truck broke down on 11/01/2011 and I called customer service to have towed and repaired at LT Auto Repair. Truck was was repaird and paid by Western General. Truck broke down 3 weeks later exactly the same way as before and had it towed back to LT Auto. LT repaired truck at no charge since under warranty. Truck lasted only 2 weeks this time. I called LT Auto Repair to have it towed back and the owner named Loc told me not to have it towed to his shop, he cannnot fix, and to take it to the dealer. I call Western General and told them what just happened ant they told me to take my truck to another repair shop. I found Autotrend Diagnostis repair in the yellow pages and had truck towed. Truck was repaird and and Western General refused to pay Autotrend. Western General says they will not pay for the same repair issue. they even ask me to get their payment back from LT Auto. I have ask for a refusal letter and still have not received one. I had to pay $1238 for the truck repair."

  • On behalf of WG Dealer Services ("WG"), we are responding to the above mentioned complaint.
    Our records indicate that on November 10, 2011 WG authorized and paid LT Auto Repair facility, chosen by Mr. Mestas, $541.40 for the replacement of a new fuel pump for his 2008 Dodge Dakota. Three (3) weeks later Mr. Mestas' truck broke down and had it towed back to LT Auto, where they repaired the vehicle at no cost as it was still under warranty.
    Two (2) weeks later, Mr. Mestas truck broke down and was towed to another repair facility, Auto Trend Diagnostics.
    Based on the terms of the service contract under 'WHAT IS NOT COVERED AND NON-COVERED PARTS' section; This Service Contract provides only the benefits specified and does not cover, including but not limited to:
    #14 Mechanical Breakdown covered by a warranty or other guarantee provided by the manufacturer, supplier, or repairer of any part.
    Based upon the contract terms listed above, we believe Mr. Mestas' claim was properly adjudicated.
    The matters stated in this letter do not waive, but rather reserve any and all rights and defenses WG mat have under the Service Contract.
