Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My name is Frank Nelissen and the problem I am having is with Verizon or one of their subsidiaries. In January of 2017 my wife and I changed over to Verizon. Now they had all kinds of plans to choose from all with two year plans which we picked one with no problem. Now they had the Samsung tablet that you could get at a good price and I decided to get one, also with a two year plan which I agree too. For this plan as it was explained to me by a Verizon manager at that store was I could get this tablet, and on a two year plan to pay it off also and a ten dollar a month internet service to operate the tablet. I had asked the manager if I did not need the internet service any longer could I cancel the internet at any time. His response was if I paid off the table before the to years were done, I could do this. And I accepted the plan and all things were fine. About three weeks into the plan I was out fishing and got into some bad weather and lost the tablet into the lake. Now I know that I was responsible for the contract and I accept the responsibility for it. A few mounts went by and I was in the store talking with the same manager and told him what had happened and asked if I could get rid of the internet service since I had no table anymore, he told me the only way to do that was to pay off the tablet, so that's what I was going to do, pay it off. Now here is where things get interesting. The store manager called up the internet service provider to canceled my internet prescription. The woman on the other end wanted to know why I was canceling and he explained what went on. She then talked with me and the store manager and explained to us that if I wanted to keep the service going she could get me another table for free no charge to me at all for that tablet. I then said If she could do that I would keep the payment plan and internet service going, and again she said she could do that. Now they sent me a new tablet, and along with that was a description of the product and a statement that said I had 14 days to try it out and if I didn't like it I could return it, also their was a statement that explained how much that tablet was worth and how many gigs it had ect: Before I opened the box I took the tablet and statement to the same manager at the Verizon store and asked him if that was a bill he looked it up on my billing information and told me that it was not a bill and that their was no billing for that table. I told him again that I wasn't paying for another table and he ensured me that I wasn't going to pay for one. Now last week I went in and paid off all three phones and what ever was left on the first tablet, I had been paying for almost a year on that tablet, that tablet was a one hundred eighty dollar pay off. when I paid off all those devices the manager told me that my monthly bill would be around two hundred twenty dollars a month now. Now I get a bill for four hundred seventy-nine dollars. I went in and we looked up the billing expenses and he said that now they are charging me for that second tablet which he himself told me that that was not right. We then got a hold of the internet company and tried to resolve the situation. They told me that there was no proof of that table beaning free and that they are charging me for it. I told them that they could have the tablet back and take me off the internet for that tablet. They told us that the 14 days were up and now I am obligated to pay off that tablet before I can get rid of the internet charges. The store manager for Verizon said that that was not right and he is standing behind me all the way. Now I need to know what can be done about this situation. I am not paying for another tablet."
