"In December i called Uncle D Auto repair in Hollywood,Fl to repair my flywheel on my astro van. Within about 45minutes they had a tow truck here to bring my van into repair shop. while there they also replaced my starter with my permission. i drove it for about 3 or 4 days when i started experiencing a jerking and while riding my engine would switch to low gear until finally my truck would not go forward. i then called mike. manager at shop. and told him my truck would not move forward. within 45 minutes he had a tow truck here in Hollywood to retrieve my truck. i called him later in the afternoon to see if he had found out the problem but he told me to call him back saturday which i did and he asked me could he pull my transmission which i said yes and to call him sunday at 11am. instead of calling i decided to take a ride to find out what was wrong. i got there, no mike, my truck was on the lift in air, my transmission was sitting on table just as someone had just removed it. business opens at 9am. i called him about 9.45 am thats when he told me that i had all these bad parts in my transmission. i went up to Uncle D when i got there he told me to come into office and he showed me all these parts he had ordered to fix transmission and then he took me into work area to show me all the parts that he claims was bad on my transmission. i could not see any difference from my existing parts and the ones he ordered. he initially gave me a price of 2200. which i told him i couldn't afford it. within about 2 minuted he gave me a price of 1500 when again i couldnt afford i.t i said since i can't afford it to put my transmission back, and once i have enough then he cold do the work. he then said that would be 596.00 for taking it apart. i told him that he asked could he pull my transmission not dismantle it he said to me how could he find out the problem. keep in mind i just paid him 500.00 to replace the flywheel not to mention 6 months prior to him touching my truck i had my transmission rebuilt after which they held my truck hostage and after about a week Mike decided to accept 240.00 and told me the truck would be in my driveway that evening and after numerous promises to deliver he finally came through on his word i received my truck today but it was delivered minus my old transmission."

  • yes, can you clarify a bit what you feel they did wrong. Sounds like they performed more work than you requested and that it incurred a lot of expense. They should have given you and estimate and called you if it was going to exceed that estimate, but I'm not exactly sure thats what happened. Ask them to put in writing exactly what they did do and cross check it with the other repair shop to see if it make sense. if not, demand a refund for any unauthorized or unwarranted repairs. but be fair.

  • Just to clarify, you stated in your claim that you had your transmission rebuilt, and that you had your truck delivered back to you after paying $240. You also state in your claim that you are open to an offer. Is there something in particular you are seeking in this situation? Just based on some research, there seem to be a lot of variables as to what can affect the cost of transmission repair or replacement, and it seems it can be a pretty expensive repair. Is your truck operating correctly now? Perhaps if you are seeking something in particular, you can add a comment above to clarify what you are seeking in this situation.
