Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Last Saturday, June13, 2015, U-Rent-It-We-Move-It came out to our neighborhood at about 8 or 9-ish to move my next door neighbor. The truck was parked outside of my driveway for several hours, blocking access, and the movers didn't even bother asking for permission, to block my driveway. After retuning home for the day, we decided we were pretty much in for the evening so I didn't bother saying anything about it at the time, and even parked our car on the side of the curb next to the light pole while they finished the move. When they finally got done moving my neighbor, and departed, we noticed the truck had left a huge motor or transmission oil stain on the pavement directly in front of my driveway. When I called the owner (Timothy Washington) on Tuesday morning to notify him of the stain, I faced an unusually unpleasant encounter. Rather than being apologetic, he was quite nonchalant, then quite argumentative stating that it was not his problem especially since it was a public street that his truck had spilled oil or transmission fluid onto. Then, he stated I could have told the guys to move the truck if I had a problem, and made excuses about being away in Florida and not wanting to incur the cost for cleaning up the spill, etc. Only when I started inquiring about his BBB status did he indicate he would try to come by the following week but then never showed up. It is over a week later and the stain is still right outside my driveway. I called Mr. Washington again today, 6-22-15 asking when he thought he would come by and he would never commit still saying he would try to get by whenever he can. Since he had misled me once already, I tried to pinpoint a time, at which point he became upset and again became unprofessional, and hung up the telephone. Here I was, in my home, minding my business, and his truck with its major transmission or oil leak pulls onto my street and leaves what is now an eyesore, yet I am having to track him down. After I got him back on the telephone, he finally promised he would be by to clean up his mess today but again has failed to follow through. Something about this does not seem right, professional, or diplomatic. In any case, I'm not sure this would even be a mover I'd want to do business with. After all, integrity, diplomacy, and professionalism should still count for something. Proceed at your own risk."
