Claimant says:
"I was called on the phone and told that I could get a trip to Disney World and a cruise to the Bahamas for $498.00 and could take the trip any time within a year of purchase. imagine my supprise when I tried to Book the trip and was told that I had to be Married and have a INcome of $60,000 a year and take a 2 hour tour of a hotel resort in Disney to take the trip. I told the man when i bought the trip that I was a 71 year old widow and on social security and wanted the trip to take my grandkids to Disney. he said that sounded great to him and he never once said anything about the income or being married, I feel that this is a ripoff to get money from people with a pack of lies."

  • I placed my name and information in a box at the State fair that claimed that a name would be drawn by Tropical Getaways to win a free cruise to the Bahamas. About a month later I got a call from them telling me that I won. Then they explained that by winning I still needed to pay $140 per month for 5 months but It would allow me to choose 3 trips for up to four people within 18 months after it was paid off. They were very clear that these payments would cover all expenses for the trips. Now after paying $700, I recieved my vacation option packet in the mail to find out that nothing is included and I need to make at least $50,000 a year to even qualify to take the vacation. When I called reservations to ask what my $700 went to they said they were separate from Tropical Getaways. ALL LIES!!!!

  • In researching your claim, it seems that vacation club plans and vacation sale companies are heavily regulated by the Florida State Government. In this situation, it seems you may have been taken advantage of by a company that is not quite delivering on their promises on vacations. To get some assistance with your claim, there are two government agencies in particular that could be of service in helping you get some resolution. One, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service serves as the agency for complaints about companies in the business of selling vacation plans. Two, the Florida Department of Elder Affairs could also be of assistance by offering legal assistance or assistance with the complaint and investigation procedures for helping you get a refund.
