Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"The company that distributed this product is Backyard Products (phone 734-242-6900). On May 18th, I spoke to Joyce who told me that we could return this product to Betty Mills and that they would pay for shipping (both ways). Today, Betty Mills contacted me by email to say that nothing could be returned. Then today I called Backyard Products and spoke to Heidi who informed me that Betty Mills refused reimbursement. I have left a message to a supervisor at Backyard Products, Pamala Heintower, to complain about the entire process with Betty Mills."

  • I looked at the gazebo online and I could see the problem. If you'd already looked at the gazebo proper, you'd get that this was a screen kit, but if not, it could be quite confusing--especially because it talks about the door, screws and hinges. Also, the 'no returns' policy seems to be only written into the FAQ, which you wouldn't look at if you didn't have a question.

    Plus, it's an extortionate amount for a screen kit. I would probably make the same mistake.

    I think your offer to pay return shipping in the circumstances is very reasonable and the right thing to do. I am surprised that the company isn't willing to waive its no return policy in this case and accept your offer.
