Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Below is the document that was emailed to claims@ssmovers.com and info@ssmovers.com with copy to Cheryl Raleigh (cheryl5086@att.net
===============================================================================

My name is Katharine Griffin.
Starving Students, Inc. was referred as a moving company from a friend.
My sister, Cheryl Raleigh called three weeks in advance to schedule a move from 7 Truman Ct., American Canyon, CA to 427 Jordan St., Vallejo, CA for Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, with a quote of $480.00 with minimum of two hours.
On Friday, Feb. 26th @ 1:45 p.m., Cheryl received a call from Starving Students, Inc., talking to Omar who advised her that they could not move her due to logistic issues. She responded yelling and upset looking for answers to what happened and why she was not advised earlier. There was a major concern in trying to get another moving company late in the afternoon to move her the next day. Omar was extremely rude and did not provide any suggestions and was not apologetic. Omar suggested Monday and she asked if he give a discount for cancelling on Saturday. Omar said “no” for this is business. Omar was asked did he know before hand and he advised he had just founded out. Upset with the response and non-caring attitude, Cheryl hung up the phone.
I called Starving Students, Inc., and talked to Delores who advised that there was a logistic issue and it was in the Sacramento area as well. Being in the logistic business myself, it does not make sense to why this happened. Cheryl and I had to search for another moving company, and we found Quality Movers to accommodate move on Saturday, Feb. 27th.
On Saturday morning, received a call at 6:30 am advising the movers will be arriving between 8:00 and 8:15 am. The movers arrived at 8:30 am and there was discussion around the deposit. Not clear to what was happening, settled the deposit issue and the movers went work.
Approximately at 9:00 am, Quality Movers called and advise they were in route to American Canyon. Surprised at the call, we asked the movers who they were with and they advised they were Starving Students, Inc. Discovered Starving Students, Inc. broker the job to another moving company and did not inform Cheryl that they were able to do the move.
I called Starving Students, Inc. and spoke with someone in Customer Service. They had assured me that I would get a phone call from Melanie who was the Regional Manager. I never received the call.
The miscommunication caused a lot of confusion and major concerns regarding how Starving Students, Inc. was handling their business. In additional, calling upon another moving company caused additional cost to Cheryl.
Requesting reimbursement in the amount of $337.67 which is the additional $237.67 was charged and the $100.00 for the gas that had to be paid to the other moving company. Poor planning on Starving Students, Inc. part caused additional stress and cost. In addition, the non-caring attitude that was displayed is not the way to conduct a business, especially when you are inconveniencing the customer and not providing any communication on changes.
Please advise if you have further questions."
