Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I have home warranty insurance through a certain company. That company requires all the contractors they do business with to carry liability insurance. We had a company come out to perform repairs on our washer and dryer. A few hours after the repairman left, I was in my finished basement bathroom underneath where the washer and dryer repair was performed. The drywall ceiling in the bath had a bulge in it from water leaking from above which as I later determined was coming from the cold water valve from laundry room where the washer that was worked on was hooked up to. I discovered after tearing out my laundry room cabinets and the drywall that the solder joint had cracked going into the valve. I contacted the liability insurance company Sedgwick Claims Management Svcs and filed a claim. I was contacted by one of their clams representatives Ashley Zamp who proceeded to make a multitude of demands from me which included invoices to repair, a written description of the damage and how it occurred and an estimate of materials and labor which I prepared. After providing all this including a detailed document with photos, I was sent a claim denied letter....months later. I even explained about an eyewitness (my brother-in-law) who observed the very large repairman leaning on the water lines for the washer while it was hooked up so he could look behind them with a flashlight. The total requested was $904. The house is a high quality 10 year old home that up to this point has never had any issues with plumbing or anything else and liability insurance is supposed to be carried in order to mitigate such occurrences as this one...they did not honor their own policies."
