Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Last year I moved from New York to New Jersey hoping to save some money on rent & utilities. My first bill with PSE&G was too high ( over $900) which included a $470 deposit (the highest ever).

They never made an actual reading. All the bills were based on estimates. When I complained about that they just changed the word "Estimated Reading" to "Actual Reading" and that was a lie because my meters are in the basement that is locked all the time ( There's no super and the landlord comes only at the end of the month to collect his checks) so there's no way for them to read those meters if they really sent someone to make those readings.

I recently checked my billing history online to find out that some payments were missing. I called the customer service and they asked me if I still have my previous payment receipts to prove my claim. Unfortunately, I only have the latest receipt for a payment that I made 20 days ago and still not credited to my account. I went to their local branch in JSQ, they made me wait over an hour to tell me that they have to check their hard records and asked me to leave my phone number so they will contact me later about any update (never called me back). The receipt was so clear and issued by one of their cashiers but they still insist to check their records first. They are either so negligent or someone put the money in his/her pocket instead of the company register.

The branch manager at JSQ is so rude and arrogant, he never listened to my complaints. Instead, he lectured me about the company though policies and consequences of not paying in full and on time. I asked for my deposit to be refunded after they held it for over a year and a half. He told me that if I miss one payment my deposit will be held for another year starting from the day I make the payment and that if my landlord can give me my deposit after a year then PSE&G can do that too.

Recently, I tried to switch my gas & electricity to Stream Energy as my energy supplier but PSE&G put a hold on my account and blocked the transfer witch is against the new Deregulation Law.

I live in a 6 apartment building and all my neighbors suffer from overcharges due to estimated readings. Some of them moved out already and the rest are thinking about doing the same thing.

All I want is that PSE&G review my account from day one, refund my deposit or credit it toward my balance and make actual readings not estimating whatever they want and finally allow me to switch to a new supplier.

This is my final attempt to settle this matter before I file a complaint with the BPU and/or Small Claim Court!"
