Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On Aug 7, I went online for the first time to check out Priceline.com. I was curious from the commercials being shown that we could search and find out prices for car rentals at a great price. We were planning a trip to Denver, CO starting on 8/20/14 so I wanted to find an inexpensive car for the trip to be picked up in Denver. It showed a price tool offering us what we were offering to pay. I asked for $11.00 a day. The tool said "not available. It said try $90.00" so I stupidly put in $90 figuring it would show what cars could be reserved for that very expensive price. It comes back that I have reserved a compact car for that price and no changes and no cancellations. (Reservation # 3180445907). I totally freaked! There was no step for me to agree/not agree on this, etc. I made several calls to them and explaining my error and they said there were no changes and it was being charged directly to my charge card. I tried several times to plea with them telling them I thought it was an outrage they could charge at least 3X times more than any reasonable amount charged for that type of car. They told me the amount was charged and I couldn't do anything about it. No changes, no cancellations.... I am so pissed and so upset at myself for even trying out Priceline.com. I have told several people they should never use this site, as you get screwed! A person should be able to change their reservation!!! This trial search was totally in error, and when I realized what happened, I tried to explain to no avail. The main and most important thing of this situation is that a consumer should not have to pay triple the amount for a rental car than the going price!!!! How unfair and crooked of the company! Of course when we picked up the car at Hertz, they couldn't care less, as it had gone through Priceline and it showed paid which is all they cared about. On top of it all... for the price we paid, we ended up with a 2013 Chevy Spirit putt putt with 46000 miles on it and it was NOT in great shape... I am so livid about this situation I would appreciate some consolation...
I would like Priceline to be reported to the Better Business Bureau and steps taken to get a refund of at least $300 of the $456.40 they charged for a 4 day rental.
