Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Had service Inspection done on AC and Heating. Inspection cost was to be 59.90 dollars. After inspection he found 3 capacitors were bad. He said no cost to put them in. The cost of a of 7.5 MFD 370 Volt is $8.99 dollars, I was charged $300.00 for two of them. The other capacitor was a 15 MDF 370 volt is $16.99 dollars, I was charged $175.00 dollars. I figure the whole bill was going to be around $100.00 dollars.
Intead I got a bill for $475.00 dollars. He said he was giving me a break since I was just laid off and would waive the inspection cost. The other work he said that I needed would have cost me $1,505.00 to clean 2 motor fan blades and clean the condensor unit. I am a certified Aircraft mechanic. I coud do all of this myself. I understand that they would not sell the parts at the the actual cost and there should be some markup but 13.5 times is awfully high. He said he gave me a break on price, it would have cost me $560.00 dollars for $34.97 in parts.
I contacted another AC and Heating company they said the parts should have cost only $148.00 dollars plus $75.00 service call."

  • Well we here at Pleasant Valley Air are sorry that Mr. Breeden feels gouged by pricing....We here at Pleasant Valley Air strive to make each and every customer a satisfied customer... Unfortunately at this time there will be no refund of monies...Our compnay has its guidelines to be able to stay a company...We have daily training for our technicians, insurance, trucks. If we sold at cost, there would be no company. Sure we are sure you can find them online at cheaper pricing, but our technicians are licensed technicians, and we have to assure that we can take care of our employees. These employees have to be licensed to work on anyones unit. Tryng to blackball this company into giving a refund is ludicrous. And playing a sympathy card is right up there..Might I also include that on any electrical items , once you walk out the store there is no warranty..We give a one year warranty at no additional charge for replacement of that electrical part..Next you will be asking for parts cost lists, our rent amounts, truck payment amounts. What will be next ??

  • Checked there work, which the technician did not do. The fan motor in my AC unit stay on all the time now. Even when the AC unit is off. Now I will have to call another AC company to come out and fix there work!

  • Ok, so now his claim is that the work wasn't done....Please confirm Mr. Breeden, either the prices were too high or the items did not work..Let's be realistic about this...Please. Make up your mind as to what you are complaining about...This is ridiculous....Have you tried calling us and letting us know that there was a problem Mr. Breeden? No, you found a website that you thought may or may not aid you in your venture to get your money back and keep the parts, not happening today. At this time the only thing left to say is, we advised you of the necessary work, you agreed to it, then you signed a invoice which clearly states sign that you agree with all work and charges...Which I believe you did sign...

  • There may be nothing you can do to get a refund of any monies paid but from their response to your claim, it appears they are an unprofessional company with no intent of even attempting to resolve a public customer complaint. I am sure they are not pleased with having this negative publicity and their response confirms this impression. It is best to contact another company (remember to ask for referrals from friends, family etc...) if you need further work done. It is unfortunate they mark up their prices so much but in the future, make sure you are asking for up front pricing on labor and parts as well as a written estimate of work needing to be done and the cost. Also, get a second and even third opinion. Good luck in the future.
