Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I was attempting to park in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. You were only able to pay for parking using the ParkMobile App, which I had previously used, but did not currently have downloaded on my phone. I called the number to pay for parking and entered all of the information including the Zone code for our parking space. As I was doing this a parking attendant came to ticket us. I said we just paid using the phone system. He looked up the car and said that there was no record of us paying. I then downloaded the app to check and I had a session open in Surfside Beach, SC. When I asked the attendant how this could have happened he asked if we had selected Rehobeth on the app, because they use the same zone code for multiple locations. However, we were never given an option to also select a city on the phone. I tried to immediately cancel the session in SC, but there was no way to cancel a session once started. Further, the attendant said he would have to give us a ticket if we didn't pay for parking or leave.  So we decided to just leave and go to a different beach altogether. I did ask the parking attendant if he could reimburse us and he said everything has to go through ParkMobile. However, when I tried to call ParkMobile to complain or get my money back, their robot - there was no way to talk to a human - said all refunds had to be issued by the garage itself. I don't know what garage it is because I was never there.

I can and will do a chargeback if this money isn't refunded and can easily prove that I wasn't even in the state at the time I was charged for parking. I try hard not to do chargebacks because of the associated costs to business, though, so would prefer that ParkMobile understand and correct the problems inherent in their system and refund the money voluntarily."

Additional Communication Between Claimant and Parkmobile - Bmw Group Hide
  • Aug 18, 2017, Claiming party added:
  • ParkMobile asked for my email address and phone number but has not contacted me since. I am in the process of filing a chargeback with my credit card company, which unfortunately will cost them more than if they had issued the refund themselves. I am now even more frustrated with them and their total lack of customer support.

I agree with Claimant. The Parkmobile system seems poorly conceived and not-use case tested very well. PM is lucky to get this feedback but using customers as your "bug testers" isn't a good practice. I suggest a) fire your tester and hire better ones. b) Pay the claimant $100 for the bug bounty. You're getting off cheap.
