Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On 6-4-14 I brought a tanzanite ring to Park place jewelers so that the owner Todd Ferrante could appraise it & possibly purchase the ring. At some point My son went to the store & was given my ring without Id or the receipt. I did not know that my ring was gone until the police found that it had been sold by another jewelry store. They were looking for another ring of mine that had been pawned. When I asked Mr Ferrante what he was going to do about this he said he had to think about it & would call me back. I have not heard from him. I told him that I either needed the value of the ring or something of equal value. I originally purchased the ring 12 years ago at the same store for 3000.00. Since that time tanzanite diamonds & gold have gone up in price. I feel that my ring should not have been given to anyone but me & that Mr Ferrante is responsible for my property & owes me the value of my ring."

Additional Communication Between Claimant and Park Place Jewelers Hide
  • Aug 15, 2014, Park Place Jewelers (responding party) added:
  • I will be happy to sit down and discuss this matter with Mrs. Petronek if she would like to come to the store. I had called her after her son picked up the ring and told her that it had been picked up. She didn't make any mention at that time that should have not been picked up by anyone other than her. I also asked her how her son knew her ring was at our store. She told me that she may have told him. Three weeks went by after had called her and Mrs. Petronek never called me in regard to making an offer on her ring. I also have no record in my system of Mrs. Petronek purchasing this ring from our store and I made her aware of that when she was attempting to sell it. If Mrs. Petronek would like to discuss this matter further she may visit me at the store.
