Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My Husband and I qualified for a HAMP short sale and we did everything we were told to do, stayed at the property and made sure everything was cleaned up and ready for the new owners and we would receive $3,000.00 dollars at closing. We did just that, even had the septic pumped to be sure the sale went though for $345.00. We spent 6 months trying to get this sale approved, they kept telling us they needed more paperwork, we faxed the same documents at least four times if not more. They kept telling us we didn't qualify because they needed more information, sent that in then we were ok again then something else would come up like we were late getting our information in and again proved they were wrong and we were ok again. Then were were told to more the $3,000.00 from 0ne line to another on the HUD statement. Well finally after about 6 closings date we were told on the day of the closing that we didn't qualitfied for the HAMP and only the short sale because we use a po box in the town I work in instead of the property address so that disqualifed us. We faxed them Bank statements coming to our physcial address with in a couple of hours of that call and they said too late, we denied you. Are you kidding me, I would of left the residence months ago if I knew this was going to happen, Now we are living with friends and I can't even pay back the people we owe money to for helping us move. This is not right. There are 2, 880 complaints against them for similar things, go to RIPPOFF.COM. Their last comment was just because you qualified doesn't mean we approved it.
Thank-you
Linda Drew"

  • Unfortunately, this does happen quite a lot. The banks that participate in the HAMP/HAFA programs are held to very strict standards and regulations that are put in place by the government, and they are often audited in regards to their participation in the program. Sometime as little as using a PO Box can potentially kick you out of review for the program. If you feel that you weren’t treated fairly in the process, you should contact the HAMP solutions center, which can also help with HAFA related issues. Information for a review or appeal can be found on the Making Home Affordable website.
