"I did not get paid 50% as agreed upon for the paintings he sold. I left 11 paintings at the gallery, he sold and paid for one last year. I got 7 paintings back. The sale price for the three paintings he sold was $6350. I have recieved checks for @1775 not $3175, he owes me $1400."

  • Did you have a written agreement with the gallery promising that you would receive 50% of each painting sold? If not, is this a standard agreement for a gallery displaying art for sale on behalf of an artist? If so, perhaps writing a letter to the gallery owner, indicating that you have received funds from them, but don’t believe you have received the entire sum that you are owed. Do you know how much each individual painting sold for? Perhaps it may have been an error on behalf of the gallery, and that may have been the 50% fee from one painting? You didn’t mention if you had been in contact at all with the gallery otherwise, and what they may or may not have said to this issue, so I’m making this suggestion under the assumption that they haven’t been in communication.
