Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My six year old son passed away on October 10th and Laurel Land Funeral Home handled the arrangements and burial. I paid for the funeral and the funeral plot for my son. I was never given the paperwork regarding the entire process. I thought I was given the paperwork but I was only given the extra obituaries and a photo DVD. When I later picked up the paperwork I learned that although I paid for the funeral and burial expenses, they had me listed as a co-buyer and my ex-wife listed as the buyer. I paid for the entire expenses and they did not give me the deed to my son’s plot they gave it to my ex-wife. I charged the entire amount of the funeral on my credit card and was never given the receipts for anything. When I called and spoke to whom I believe was the manager a guy name Travis he told me there was nothing he could do and chuckled for me to sue him. My ex-wife is friends with most of the employees at the funeral home in which I believe this all was done secretly behind my back. I asked the funeral home to fix the situation by giving me the deed to his plot and was told they would not do that. The manager told me there is nothing he can do if my ex-wife is friends with the employees who handled the services and the paperwork for the funeral home. I believe they did this purposely and without my knowledge behind my back during my time of grieving. I believe that I have been taken advantage of completely. I would like the paperwork for my son’s burial plot including the deed to the plot returned to me since I paid for the plot."
