Claimant says:
"Having a 420 sqft apartment, Checked with Heat Surge about one of their Amish Fireplaces, Advertized with solid Cherry Cabinet. Should have been forwarned when it arrived, Cabinet is solid wood ( With a Cherry Stain paint job ) I wanted to know if their unit would heat this size area with no problems, unit heated area easily, with one major problem, when room reached livable temp, it would not shut down and continued heating until Apt. was like an oven??? When I contacted their Cust. Serv. dept their response was I should treat it as I would an elec fry pan, or a toaster and not leave it unattended??? I have some $20.00 Holmes heaters that shut off when rooom temp is reached. And a toaster will shut off by its self when cycle is complete?
At the price of these fireplaces ( And the fact I specified that this was the only heat for the apartment they should have not sold it to me . It's quite apparent their advertizing is to sell these units, not really worried about safety factor of continued heating beyond comfort level??
When I try to resolve my problem with Cust. Serv. Dept. all I get is a computor generated automatic response of how they will get right back to me to answer my questions. After 3 weeks of no response, even with my resending complaint it becomes quite evident its a case of we unloaded that thing and your stuck with it."
