"My spouse and I have been regular customers at Golden Corral 1402 Cedar St, Clarksville, Indiana. Because of the business we run it is easier to stop there for dinner. We know most of the managers, Hello Scott, and most of the servers. For the most part, service has been well, although there have been a few incidents, and for the most part, the food is usually quite good. However, there have been numerous vehicles broken into, windows smashed, personal property stolen, and even cars damaged on their parking lot. Local law enforcement have been called to take reports many times. Management is aware of the problem but no security measures have been taken or installed. We were completly unaware of the security issues on their parking lot until last Sunday May 27, 2012. We stopped there for dinner around 5:00 p.m.. My spouse, Kara, placed her purse behind the drivers seat of our van and then we locked the doors and went inside for dinner. After dinner, we returned back to our van and discovered that the side door of our van was not shut securely, and the drivers door was unlocked. We opened the doors, I reshut the side door tightly, and then we both got in and drove home. It was'nt until we arrived home and Kara reached behind the seat to get her purse that she realized it had been stolen. She broke down emotionally, crying hysterically, and when she finally calmed down, she called the bank that issued her debit cards and reported them as stolen. Then we called Golden Corral to see if they had found a purse, and told them what had happend. The person we talked to said they were not surprised it happens quite often and that even earlier in the day they had to call the police because another vehicle had been struck on the parking lot. We drove back down to Golden Corral and spoke to the manager who also told us that his vehicle had been broken into and his window smashed and several packs of cigarettes had been stolen. This had happend a while back He also told us that several other employees vehicles have also been broken into. After telling us that he then called the Clarksville Police Department and they arrived shortly thereafter to take our report. With all of the known problems with theft and vandelisim on their parking lot, I ask, why are there no signs warning that they are not responsible for items that may be stolen from cars on their lot? Or perhaps, please take items of value inside with you. The parking lot has no video survailence, no warning signs, and had we known there has been such a high rate of vehicle break-ins and thefts on their lot never would my spouse or myself would have ever thought about leaving anything of value locked in our vehicle on their parking lot. The person who stole Kara's purse managed to make three purchases at Target one for $315.65, a second for $55.00 and a third for another $55.00. They did manage to get video of these transactions. The perpetrator did get all of Kara's keys the house keys, the keys to her Lincoln, and Mustang, her drivers license, Social Security Card, all of her medical cards, her iPod valued at $200 her cell phone valued at $150 ,her electronic cigarette cigarette kit valued at $60.00, $25.00 cash and the Title to her mustang that she just bought at a auction for $1,340 plus $93.80 tax. We had to replace the locks on our home, the keys for her cars, running everywhere, getting replacemnt for her license, and making tons of phone calls. The stress, and aniexity is off scale so I am writing this as a way to warn others and to release some of the stress. In a way I hold Golden Corral responsible, for they have known for quite a while that they have a problem with thefts and break-ins of cars on their parking lot but have made no attempt to correct the problem nor warn any of their customers and to me this is just not right."
