Dear ___________:

I, Zakiya Williams, a proud and honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Armed Services, am formally protesting how I was treated when I applied for residence in Glenmuir of Naperville Apartments (2604 Rockport Ln, Naperville, IL 60564).

As a result of how I was treated and for the following reasons, I need your help to be reconsidered and permitted to reside in Glenmuir of Naperville Apartments:

I have been gainfully employed for years;
I had the necessary rental and security payments;

I was informed by Ms. Solis, that I would require a cosigner and that co-signer must own their own home and be able to afford their mortgage as well as the full rent on their own. I provided the following about my co-signer:
Evidence that he owns his own home (credit report)
That, if necessary, he can pay his mortgage and my rent (but paying my rent won’t be necessary);
His two most recent pay stubs;
Verification of his employment;
His application and paycheck stubs;
Evidence of his overtime pay was provided and
Evidence that he has money going directly into his savings account (which was listed on his paycheck stubs.
Evidence of the money I receive for child support payments, which are directly deposited into my bank account biweekly.

In a May 12, 2016 e-mail, I informed Ms. Hana Tallent, “In my defense, I have never missed or even been late on a rental payment.”

My traditional habit of paying my rent on time added to the excellent credit history of my co-signer and the other evidence I provided should have been enough to qualify me for residence. Instead, Ms. Solis (?) next asked me to provide copies of my co-signer’s bank statements, because she wanted to see proof that he has a couple of months rent saved in his account. I truly believe that was going too far and doubt if the same thing is required of white veterans. I feel this was racially motivated and when I provided all that was asked that should have been an approval. I have written letters to several organizations to notify them of this unfortunate event."
