Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"They claim I owe $827.00 for two months of water.....My bill for over 4 years never exceded the minimum amount of $32.00......They send out someone to check for leaks and filed a report that he found no problem and no repairs had been fixed......After contacting them over 10 times and being told to just pay the $32.00 each month and 2 years have passed, I received a letter stating that the $827.00 muat be paid in 30 days with no opportunity for appeal."

Respondent's Counteroffer Hide
The claimant's settlement terms were rejected with the following explanation:
  • I disagree with the explanation / grounds provided

"Water meters do not turn without a force passing (water moving) through them. So we feel water did pass through the meter. We followed our rules for when a customer asks forgiveness and the committee that is made up of residents in our community did not believe Mr. Hammersmith should receive a lower water bill. We will pull Mr. Hammersmiths meter for accuracy in the next couple of months and if found to be inaccurrate will reconsider our finding."

This claim will remain posted until resolved.

  • What do they think you did with all that water? Did you install a car wash for two months or something? For a bill that size I would have thought they would have checked the meter right away unless they have a reason to think you did use all that water.
