Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I am a Direct TV customer who recently moved within the same city of Madison, MS.
The technician they sent to my new house in May 31st announced he had never installed the international dish before and this project would be too hard for him. I suggested him to call his company to send someone else with more experience, but he refused. He worked on my yard from 8 am to 5 pm, and by 5pm he still didn't get my TV work.

Because it was getting late and dark so I said OK when he told me he was done for the day. I didn't go to my backyard to check since he said he would be back the next morning. By next morning I went to my yard and found the right side gate was broken. I have two gates in each side of my yard that were in perfect condition. I recalled the last time I ever opened it was the previous day when the technician asked me to let him in from right side so that he could work on that side of the yard. The gate hinge was damaged badly and the gate was actually half way hanging on the ground.

I called Direct TV to report my damage. I was instructed to get a professional repairing company's help if couldn't fix it myself. I was told I need to send the professional repairing company's evaluation report and photos of my damaged gate,along with my claim letter, then I would be fully refund of the repairing costs. I did exactly I was instructed after I repaired the gate on my own expenses then sent them the claim, together with photos and evaluation report. Almost 2 weeks passed I didn't hear anything from them. I called to check and was told my case was closed without my knowledge.

I was told by their rude damage claim agents that it was denied because they talked to the technician and believed his words of my gate was already old and broke when he came. I said, I bought this brand new house for less than a month, everything was in perfect condition before the technician showed up. If the gate was already broke like he said, why did I have to open the lock from inside of the gate to let him in? He could just push it in without calling me for help. But she hung up me. So I called her supervisor Peter who said he would not listen to me anymore because it was his decision to deny my claim, then hung up on me again."

  • My Direct TV account is 63978857. The rude agent from Direct TV Damage claim division who yelled at me on the phone before hanging up on me was Yvette Martinez. Peter was her supervisor who screamed at me one more time on the phone and told me not to bother him again.

  • Direct TV needs to step up and take care of this - they should also take better control of the service people that they send out - I think the fact that this technician had never installed this international dish before also needs to be addressed - that is very poor business practices! There is also never an excuse for behaving like that on the phone - Yvette and Peter should be fired!
