Claimant's opinion: I did not have $496.00 in one week to give to Dr. DeGraw. He thought I would continue treating with him so that he could continue to take advantage but I will not go back to him because he did not provide services to me that met my needs. I still have pain and I feel that I gave $496.00 away. Shame on you Dr. DeGraw.
Claimant's opinion: I paid a total of $496.00 for nothing. I am still in pain and cannot afford to go to another doctor.
Claimant's opinion: Dr. DeGraw and his staff did not or would not listen me and went against my wishes and ordered products without my consent and when I verbally spoke to Wanda over the phone the 2nd time she told me that the order had not yet been placed. I asked her to make sure that she cancelled it because I had already ordered it from another provider and that I would not change my mind. Instead of respecting my feeling, this Practice gave NO consideration to whether I wanted the order or not they were going to order it without my consent. This is exactly what they did.
Claimant's opinion: When a patient expresses concern or when a patient is apprehensive about a matter, it is the Professionals duty to help the patient not by being motivated by greed but by being really concerned about the patient's health and well being.
Claimant's opinion: When I asked Dr. DeGraw if I should apply heat to my back, his answer was no. He gave me no direction regarding what I could do to feel better and help with my pain on all (3) visits. He really did not help me at all and it appeared that he did not care if I was in pain or not. If he knew he had issues, he should not have accepted me as a patient since he had no interest in my getting relief for my acute back pain. His office also harassed me about ordering this product when in fact they knew I did not want it. They harrassed me about appointments and did not listen when I told then NO i DID NOT WANT DR. DEGRAW TO ORDER ANYTHING FOR ME. THEY DID NOT LISTEN AND ORDERED IT ANYWAY.
Claimant's opinion: Also Dr. DeGraw used an electrical stimulation on me which had (4) electrodes attached to it. In consideration of my condition (excessive pain, he still only used (2) electrodes. When I asked why he only used (2) he made up some ridiculous story that does not merrit repeating. I'm not sure why the quality of service was so poor, however it appears to represent discrimination and/or Greed. Only DeGraw knows the answer to this situation. Dr. DeGraw was very much aware of my extreme pain since, he had the Radiological Reports requested from the Emergency Room (where I had to go over the week before seeing Dr. DeGraw) faxed to him on the initial appointment date. Also I had to use a cane after coming into his office since on the initial examination, he did nothing to help relieve my pain. I have much experience with Chiropractors and his is a poor example for anyone in this Profession. By his lack of concern he showed that he could care less about my pain but he was greatly concerned about being paid. Once he saw that I was a self paying patient, he escalated his prices. I was told that I had a balance due to me of $191.00 which should have been $201.00 as I paid $281.00 on my second office visit, since I cancelled the order from a distributor that DeGraw uses and having (2) office visits @ $40.00 each I should have had a balance of $201.00 not $191.00. Do the math. I told Wanda his Assistant or Receptionist to cancel my order leaving me with a balance of $201.00 reflecting (2) office visits @ $40.00 each. When I came in to pick up the order (since I was charged anyway, I decided to pick up the order with deep regret), but I was not about to give my money away especially to this office totalling $201.00. When I picked up the order, I was expecting to pay $31.00 (since Dr. DeGraw told me that the order would be in the amount of $232.00) I already paid $100.00 on the inital visit. $281.00 on my second visit and $90.00 on the final and last visit. I would never agreed to pay a chiropractor $65.00 for each visit. If I had the money I still would not do this. Yet this is what his billed reflects. He wanted to justify the overpayments by adding diagnostic codes that really were bogus, unethical and down right wrong. For example, according to the statement given to me, I am charged $25.00 for exercise and then a diagnostic code follows the amount, when infact Dr. DeGraw gave meone piece of paper with exercises on it subsequently billing @ 25.00 for one piece of paper with 6 exercises on it, one of which is crossed out. Unfortunately Dr DeGraw has no clue of my medical background and training as regards medical billing, overpayments and what the consequences would be should this event be reported to the American Board of Chiropractors, JCAHO, and other licensing agencies who monitor overpayments and unethical conduct on the part of Health care Professionals.
Claimant's opinion: I am still experiencing acute and chronic pain. I gave DeGraw Chiropractic a total of $496.00 within one week, which I could not afford. I asked the staff not to order anything for me, but they insisted upon doing whatever they wanted to do, inspite of my request. I called Dr. DeGraw's office and told Wanda his assistant that I did not want the product that DeGraw ordered. However since he felt that I needed them, I ordered the same product from Walkfit paying $19.99 instead of $232.00 that was quoted to me on10/1/10 . This situation has placed an extreme financial hardship on me, now I cannot afford to go to another doctor and I am afraid to trust any health care provider for fear of being taken advantage of as in the case of DeGraw Chiropractic.
