First of all I knew it was an older vacuum but no where on my receipt does it state that it is 25 yrs old. The statement of returning it because I did not like pulling it around is completely false. I told the owner Timm and the salesman Brian that the machine was too heavy for me and I had issues using it. The fact remains Compact of Canton was going to keep my machine and wanted to charge me $100 on a Royal upright vacuum that was listed for $199. They would have kept the machine I would have returned and would have resold it for a profit. I am not trying to strong-arm anyone, and I feel the deal that was offered was poor. Compact of Canton would have made a hefty profit with the original sale of $600, plus the resale of the return of the vacuum.
At no point did we ever offer to take the used vacuum back. We do not know of any company that takes returns on used equipment that was purchased 6 months ago. If MS. Lalewicz wanted to leave the machine here at her loss that is certainly her decision to make. We never offered to refund her purchase so there would be no reason to take the machine she purchased back. We offered her half price on a vacuum that was easier to push as a way of trying to work with her. She declined our offer, so at that point we were done. Her attempts to use a bad internet review to ruin the good name of a company that has 40 years of positive reviews and Better Business Bureau A+ ratings because she procrastinated in trying to return the vacuum is a waste of this website's time. As far as we know we are the only company offering lifetime free labor on used vacuums and 5 year warranties on the machines themselves, so we are certainly not trying to get over on our customers. We do these things because we want our customers to know we are here for them. However we cannot accept returns on a vacuum that was used for 6 months.
First of all I do not know of any company that does not offer a return policy. When I called and talked to the owner Timm that was the first thing I asked him. He stated they don't have one. When I explained the situation to him he said he would {work} with him and told me about the Royal lightweight vacuum. I asked him if I should bring in my vacuum and he said yes. He said one of his salesmen would help me. Now why would he tell me to bring in my vacuum if he did not want it. When I went to Compact of canton the next day Brian the salesman acted like he knew nothing about the conversation that I had with his boss. I even asked him if he knew what I was talking about, he said no. I told him what was discussed and Brian went out to my van and brought the vacuum into the store. After he told me his offer I told him I could not spend more than I already had, knowing they would turn around and sell mine for a profit. After I said I could not make the deal Brian took the vacuum back out to my van. I think they need to put a return policy in place.
"Ms. Lalewicz bought a 25 year old used vacuum from us. She was aware of the age of the vacuum when she bought it and we gave her a 5 year warranty and free labor of the machine. She had the vacuum for over 6 months before attempting to bring the vacuum back. She said she didn't like pulling it around. We offered her half price on a brand new vacuum as a way of trying to make her happy but she insisted we should just give her the new vacuum in exchange for the 25 year old one she bought and used for 6 months. When we told her we could not do this, she left and filed this claim. We are happy to honor the lifetime free labor and 5 year warranty on the vacuum she has, but we will not be strong-armed by a bad internet review into losing money. "
