Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My name is Wyvonne Ward. I used to work at caffe Italia for a period of two and a half months. I was let go before my 90 day trial period was up. They really didn't specifically had legit reasoning of letting me go. Mostly was a collaborated of random petty reasons. The owner was already threatening me and my position there as a server. John Leblanc had made various vital threats of me losing my job. I feel as if though I was a threat to him because of my professional background. I was a paralegal in the Navy and I am a criminal justice and psych major. There were a lot of regulars who remember me from working at Publix. I left Publix because it wasn't paying well but now I have regret of doing so. So in a two months time frame, I had made many regulars who came to see me and allowing me to serve them. At that point, I thought i was doing a good job as a server there and was making pretty good money. Somehow, I guess other servers didn't like me because I was doing a good job.

There were a lot of things I was witnessing there that shouldn't be happening. Most of the people who works there has some form of criminal background relating to DUIs, some who have been in jail, done illegal substances, or has harass and have assaulted someone in their past and just recently got off probation. These particular individuals were cooks and servers that work there. I was also getting sexually harassed by one of the cooks. His name is Bobby. He would make continuous remarks about my chest and other physical features which i overlooked since he was the right hand man by the owner. So if I had said something against it that he would have let me go then as well.

As a certified Deli Clerk from Publix; I noticed a lot of Health and Safety Concerns such as poor food preparation, touching foods with their bare hands, servers eating off of customers plates, and some servers scooping ice with glassware. Not only that, one evening I accidentally dropped a loaf of bread on the floor and the owner told me to pick it up and put it in the basket and serve it to the customer. I had no choice but to serve it because I felt that if I didn't do it that I was going to be let go. Also, I hardly notice the cooks or the servers washing their hands after they come from smoking or coming from the restroom which I found to be vile and disgusting. I even saw a prep cook rinse lettuce and romaine in the hand washing sink as well. I told the owner about it and then got verbally counseled for telling them what he did.

As I stated before, I feel that it was in the plan to let me go for petty reasoning which I feel was not fair. Just recently after only being gone for a week, I received text messages from a server Heather McClaughin who works there harassing me and ridiculing me because I no longer work there which i dont appreciate it and for Brandy who is supposed to be the GM there mocking and talking amongst the servers about me as if it was all in the plan to get rid of me. Nothing made sense of the entire situation. This is a person whom i entrusted in as being a loyal person who my mother knew which is how I got the job. So it is apparent, that it was maliciously planned. Truly a horrible place to even be employed unless you are a sketchy individual that these people would enjoy to have working with them.

Sincerely
Wyvonne Ward
