Claimant's opinion: On 01/20/2011 I purchased a 2002 Ventura Van from Automotive Consultants. It came with a carfax and a safety Inspection/Implied Warranty of 500 miles or 15 days whichever comes first. The second day after purchase I noticed the van smelled like gas and I found the tank was leaking, I took it back, they called me and said it was fixed, within 3 days it was leaking again, I took it back again, at this time I questioned the power steering and said it smelled funny. They power steering flushed it called me and said everything was fine. Right after I reached the about 1000 miles on it, it begin to run hot. I had it towed to a mechanic, who told me someone had tried to hide a leak, and the intake gasket was leaking and the radiator was completely plugged. He put a new intake gasket and a new rsdiator on it. It cost me 1251.00. I picked it up and it still ran hot. I took it back to him and he said it might be electrical. I called Automotice Consultants, they picked up the van and took it to a mechanic , brought it back and said it was not running hot, it had a bad sensor, so they replaced it and it should be fine now. The van was driven 8.5 miles and the engine seized up. I had it towed to another mechanic. Auto express, who informed me the head gasket had beek leaking and because automotive Consultants mechanic chose not to inform me, that it why it locked up the engine. When they began the work, auto express informed that no safety inspection could have been done on this van, the serpentine belt was severely cracked, the air filter was so plugged, it could not have been checked or changed in over 2 years. I ended up putting a new engine, water pump, plugs and wires, new exaust manifold, a new intake manifold, a air filter..etc.. at the cost of 4146.87. I have been in touch with John at Automotive Consultants at least 25 times. He assured me he had spoke with Sharon the owner and they felt some obligation since it was their mechanic of choice who missed the head gasktr and told us the van was fine to drive. Also I informed him I had a copy of the safety Inspection that said the air filter was ok and the serpentine belt was checked ok. He told me that they felt a moral obligation since the inspection was not done or done incorrectly. I have tried very hard to deal responsibly and respectfully with this company. He told me they would prefer to come to a resolution without going to the BBB. I told him I didn't expect them to pay for everything, but they could at least pay a portion or give me a rebate on the van since the inspections were not correct, also their mechanic misdiagnosed causing the engine lock up, and also since it happened so quickly after the purchase. He has agreed with me, and promised to return my calls after talking to Sharon, and needless to say after countless attempts, they just keep ignoring me. I have even offered to show them copies of the receipts and also a statement from Auto express stating the safety Inspection was not done/ or done improperly, and still even though he has promised to return my calls several times...he has not . I am at my wits end. He claims they are a reputable company, and they feel they have a moral obligation, and also an obligation on the incorrect diagnise by their mechanic but yet I cannot get any response.
