Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"AT&T has not been able to provide service at my home for the past 4 months. Prior to 4 months ago I used to have to sit outside on my porch to make a call or send a text message on just about any of the 4 phone lines that I have. I have been a loyal customer of AT&T for almost 10 years and over the past 4 months, AT&T has paid approx $600 of my bills and have offered to give me free text messaging for the next 6 months to try and compensate for the increase in our internet bill. We have to use Verizon Mifi 3G internet service in order to get any internet service and we pay $80 per month for 10 Gigs of internet usage per month. In order for us to have phone service AT&T, AT&T provided us with a 3G Microcell at a 50% discount and then gave us a credit of $120 or so to cover the rest of the cost of the Microcell and also paid for my entire bill for the month. I have filed 6 or 7 complaints with AT&T and talked to many representatives and supervisors who have all told me different stories about new towers being built in our area starting with the last week in February (one 2G tower was to be avaialable) and then a second tower with 3G was scheduled to be complete for May 1, 2012. I called on May 4th or so to see what was happening with the towers. I was then issued another credit because of lack of service towers and told that I would be able to get various credits to help compensate for the usage of the microcell. Since I HAVE to have the Microcell in order to have phone service at my home and am only alotted so much per month with Verizon that I would be getting about an $80 credit per month until the tower was complete. This is what I have been told by supervisors and a couple of the Reps when I have called customer service. I was told that I should have no problem with my service at my address when I upgraded my phones to smart phones and that AT&T would be able to provide service. I have no service or very short (less than 5 minutes) conversations before the call would drop. I want to keep one line open for my business number and that is xxx-xxx-2174. I have been lied to by your Reps about when towers were to be complete, I have been lied to about getting the $80 credit to offset the cost of my internet. I can never talk to the same person twice about these issues and I have to RE-EXPLAIN the entire situation or wait until all the notes have been read. Obvious key parts of the conversation had been left out of the notes or I wouldn't be writing this complaint. I have been a loyal customer for almost 10 years and I currently have 4 numbers with AT&T with a $300+ per month phone bill and a $164 (and rising) internet bill. My son was almost abducted fom my driveway while taking the trash out. I had to drive 6 miles into town in order to call 911 and file a report of a pedophile trying to pick up my son. That is why the Microcell was basically given to us - to cover your ass. I want out of my contracts for the numbers ending in 4090, 6076, and 1057 and I will return the phones to AT&T. I have filed a complaint here with you in hopes that this gets resolved, and I will file a complaint with the FCC. Not to mention that I am sure that I can round up a few disgruntled customers who feel the same way that I do about paying for a service that we cannot even use and file a class action lawsuit. I refuse to pay any early termination fees due to the inability of AT&T to provide the services that they promised. A contract goes both ways, I don't pay my bill - you cut off my service. You don't provide a service and I don't pay my bill. Pretty simple concept really. Because I HAVE TO HAVE the Microcell in order to have phone service, then AT&T should pay for half of my internet bill since the Microcell has used all of my data plan. If I had other options for internet, I would have already taken them but I am stuck with Verizon. Somebody please contact me within the next 48 hours to see if this can be resolved. If for whatever reason that this issue is not resolved to my satisfaction and it does get posted on the open forum publicly, please contact me at info@takeasoldierfishing.com and we can organize a class action lawsuit against AT&T. I am done playing around and fed up with paying more money for a crappy service. I encourage all that read this to file a complaint with the FCC if it is regarding AT&T services."

  • I was contacted by AT&T today to be told that I have to pay $930 in early termination fees. I paid off the complete balance before I transfered my personal number after I had switched companies. I now pay for 7 phones and 20 gigs of data for just over $400 a month. Now grandma and grandpa can talk to their grand kids when ever and for as long as they want. Can't put a price on that. To those that like to judge people.... I have earned every penny serving our country I am just tired of having to take shit from big companies. You don't provide a service, I don't pay for it.   • This morning at 9:30 am I got a phone call from AT&T Corporate and had about a 60 second conversation with the lady on the other end. All of the early termination fees were immediately dropped except for my iPhone 4s which is $235. I agreed to the terms and will pay that fee. I will keep you updated when I get the final bill and then I will have this post removed from the site and consider it settled. Thank you peopleclaim.com for your help. The letter that you sent to the corporate office is what got all of this resolved.
