Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"During the month of April 2018 to currently, Greater Eternal Church experienced a very difficult challenged, Dr. Henry Bolden was very ill and he was not expected to live but God Delivered him. I Rev. Pamler Pope-Plummer, Assistant Pastor and trustee experienced so much discrimination and oppression, and disrespect, as if we were stealing from ourselves. The bank spoke to us as if we were not welcome or deserving of community best practice customer service. Ageism and unfair treatment were exhibited towards the trustee and CEO. The trustee board was never welcome or felt respected. As of Dec 9, 2018, Greater Eternal will close the accounts and seek banking with a Bank that wants to help promote change and community support. Please help because Co-op city is a Hispanic, Jewish, White, African American population. We are a city within a city. We serve out own aging community culturally diverse community It is our God-given right to be treated with dignity and best interest to provide a better quality of life."

The claimant's settlement terms were rejected with the following explanation:
  • "We acknowledge receipt of your correspondence dated December 8, 2018, received by Apple Bank for Savings (the “Bank”) on December 12, 2018 regarding your customer service experience during a visit to the Co-Op City branch location in April 2018. The complaint has been forwarded to the undersigned for review and reply.

    Apple Bank for Savings (the “Bank”) appreciates you bringing this matter to our attention. We want to reassure you the Bank takes such matters seriously and an investigation was made into the incidents in question by the District Manager, Renee Cross. On Thursday, December 13, 2018, you and Mrs. Cross were able to speak over the telephone during which time you were able to discuss your customer service experiences at the Co-Op City branch location.

    At Apple Bank we have a commitment to diversity and equality both within the Bank and in the services we offer to the communities we serve. Rooted in our communities since 1863, we have always worked to create an inclusive banking environment within the respective community in which our branches are located. We encourage employee volunteerism, and many offer their time and talents as board members for various organizations, including those engaging in needed community development social services such as financial literacy programs for youth and adults, small business support, and affordable housing providers. Our branches also get involved in the community, serving as venues for first-time homebuyer seminars, financial literacy, food and clothing drives, and house community meetings for both local small business improvement initiatives and social service organizations. We realize that a satisfied customer is crucial to our success, thus it our goal is to create positive customer experiences. We apologize for any miscommunication during your visit to the Co-Op City branch which may have led you to feel that your business was less than appreciated. In the future, if you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact the Co-Op City Branch Manager, Nicole McNulty, at (718) 320-3133 Monday through Friday from 9:00 am ET to 4:00 pm ET."
