Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Apparently, when we signed up with MegaLife insurance, our broker Matt Self, also signed us up for Americans for Financial Security (AFS). While neither my wife or I are familiar with this company, it appears that we must have done so at some point in time, because they had our bank account information. From the day that we apparently signed up with AFS, until today, we have never received a single piece of mail, email, or correspondence from AFS. Our account was never set up on line (because we were never given any paperwork or information on what to do or how to do this), and have not received a single benefit from them in any regard. Recently, my wife and I were going over our bank statements, and realized that $50 dollars a month has been coming out of our account since back in 2006. We reached out to the Bank of AF to find out what these charges were for, and were advised it was for AFS monthly fees. We contacted them to find out what they were and why they were deducting money from our account, and were advised at that time that they were an insurance company. We went over this situation with them, and they confirmed that they had not received any correspondence from us, and in fact, had never sent us out any mail (they claim that this is because they email everything), and confirmed that our on line account was never set up. Thus confirming that we would not have had any knowledge of their existence or how to cancel even had we known we they were deducting from our account. We cancelled coverage with MegaLife in approx. 2009, and assumed this would have ended all charges (as mentioned, we did not know about this one or we would have cancelled at the same time we cancelled MegaLife). While my wife and I are certainly negligent in regards to closely monitoring the deductions coming from our bank account, I believe AFS has made a living off of cases similar to mine. By not providing a single stitch of information to one of their supposed clients, they have simply run in the back ground, out of sight, and out of mind, and to my view, in a fashion which is meant to simply pilfer money from unsuspecting people. When we realized what had happened, we asked for a refund from the time we cancelled MegaLife and they denied our request. I would now like to take legal action to have my stolen money returned. THIS COMPANY IS S TOTAL SHAM AND IN MY VIEW IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT WAITING TO HAPPPEN!!! I AM HAPPY TO START THAT BALL ROLLING IN ANY WAY I CAN!!"
