Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My husband and I reserved the company above to move us from Colquitt, GA, to Ripley, MS, with a window of March 26-27. Our driver called on the 25th and said that he would be here on the 26rg at 7:00. He was a man named Isiah who appeared by phone to be knowledgeable and believable; however, as luck would have it, he was taken off of this job and put on another one so this pick up never happened on the 26th nor did we receive a call to say that it was not happening that day until I called repeatedly and was finally told by late morning that the move was not taking place on the 26th as was promised the day before. We were told that we would be picked up on the 27th between 11-1. We waited and waited some more and no one came until 4:30 and these three men had inadequate English speaking skills, appeared shady, and looked like they had just been picked up off of the street to appease two old folks with a truck. I was called and asked to go to a certain spot in town and to allow them to follow me to our house. I did not mind doing this. I carried them down streets that I knew that they could negotiate with any type of driving skills. They did fine until they got two lots from our house than suddenly they could not go any further. I doubt this seriously since it was right at the hospital where service trucks, pet scan machines, etc., use this street very frequently. Since they were so unsure of themselves, I called the police to come to show them some alternative turns. They were very uncomfortable with his presence. Hind sight is always better than foresight. I wished I had asked him to check their driver's license to see if they were even certified to drive this type of truck or perhaps to see if one or two of them were illegal. The police showed them some alternative routes and the owner of the drug store across the street from us gave permission for them to come through the parking lot and park directly across from our house. They were determined that they could not do this but wanted to get a UHaul truck and use it as a shuttle. It is not difficult to see that the name of this game was "extra money" since they would charge $700 to load the truck. My daughter who was present told them to just go on their way. She said that by their appearance and actions, she did not believe that they had the ability to get to the desired destination or that our possessions would have arrived without a major traffic accident or theft by them. They never said, "We are sorry". They looked like that they could have cared less. I will have to say that our sales rep, James, was delightful to work with prior to all of this, I hope that he is a victim of not knowing what the laborers are like. We believe that they sent these undesirables in order to fulfill their contractual agreement at the last minute without regard to ability. My husband has dementia and alzhemires and we really needed the help, We believe that we were discriminated against because of our age and our helplessness. I have stopped my credit card, etc., because of fear of the company putting other charges on it. I have explained this to the credit card company, insurance co, etc. I want my deposit of $948 refunded to us. We met our obligations. We were packed, ready to move, with the rest of the money in hand for delivery. They should have kept their word as to the correct time frame, not removed Isiah from our load to be picked up , sent a truck on the 26th, and things would have been different. They thought because of our age, they could do us any way and they did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When we hired them, we noticed that they had a BBB logo and that influenced us to hire them."

  • My credit card company tried to resolve issue but found I had no legal recourse since they did appear at my home regardless of their presentation and my fear for safety. I can not pay anymore for dealing with this matter; therefore, I am dropping the matter. Thanks for trying to help.
