Statement of Claim
"A copy of the email sent to Chris Gray, owner of All American Heating and Air Conditioning on November 19, 2015, follows:

The technician that responded to the last complaint about a “grinding noise” coming from my system on startup confirmed the noise was coming from the water recirculating pumps. This will be the fourth time I have had problems with the recirculating pumps.
10/21/2013 – Need to replace 2 pumps and flush the complete loop.
03/07/2014 – System making a loud noise on startup
07/13/2015 – System makes grinding noise on start up
Please note that the repair note for 10/21/2013 includes the statement “replace 2 pumps and flush the complete loop. At that time your technician noted that the water in the system was dirty. He said it should be clear, but nothing was done.
This past summer, a galvanized elbow began to leak, not from the threaded areas but in the middle of the elbow. I called Don for an estimate to replace the coupling, but I thought it was too high.
I decided to replace the elbow myself. After I removed the leaking elbow and then looked at the inside of it, it appeared as if someone had sanded through the elbow from the inside out. I called another company, Raleigh Heating and Air, to recharge the system. Their technicians also told me that the water was dirty. They tried to filter it but the particulate matter was too fine for their filter.
I asked them if they would offer me a maintenance contract. Raleigh Heating and Air refused because the contaminated water. “The liability is too great” was the reason.
As you well know, fast running water with any particulate matter in it is abrasive. The abrasive nature of the water in my HVAC system can be verified by the leak developed in the above mentioned coupling. My concern then is that abrasive damage is now occurring in my HVAC system. An abrasive leak in the buried cooling lines would be a catastrophic and costly system failure.
When I first contacted your company, there was a sense of providing excellent customer satisfaction. If you recall, I even wrote a letter to the Better Business complementing your company. However, something has changed since then and not for the better.
My request is that you do what should have been done when you installed the new system and what was recommended by your technician in the 10/21/2013 trouble call – flush the complete water loop. The cost of flushing the system should have been covered by the price I paid for the installation of a brand new HVAC system."

  • We will supply the labor to install the circulating pumps and flush the system for no charge. This is labor only. The customer can purchase the pumps at our cost to be installed.
    We have replaced the equipment at Mr. Madritch's residence, but had nothing to do with the well for the geo system. The age of the well could be fifteen plus years. The problem is with the water part of the geo system and not the equipment side. If Mr Madritch purchases the pumps, we will install them weather permitting when they arrive. All- American is no longer in the geo business, but as always will help to solve our customers problems. Please let me know what you would like to do.
