Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I had bought something Almost a year ago from this company, and didn't realize it had signed me up for a membership. As soon as I realized it, I emailed them to have me taken off and refund the membership fee of $50. The next day I got an email saying my order has shipped, so I emailed them again. I tried to call at least once or twice every day and never spoke to a representative. Either I had to leave a voicemail, which was never answered, or it gave me a busy signal. When I actually did get an email back, I was told there was nothing that they could do, they hadn't gotten my first email. I tried to give them multiple chances to correct this, & I even offered to send the package back to be able to get my full refund. The most I got was an offer to get 50% back but I never received that either. When I got the package one of the candles was shattered. I tried to send pictures of that as well to have that fixed, but I have ultimately been ignored."

  • It sounds from the claim as if the OP has been blown off every which way by Bella Candles. I seem to remember a court case about a flower delivery service where customers didn't realize they were signing up for memberships and continuing charges; it ended up being pretty expensive for the flower company. It strikes me that Bella Candles might want to respond properly to the OP and review their concerns, including the failure to cancel and any pictures of the broken candle, instead of trying to blow him or her off AGAIN with a request to email them AGAIN.

    A response like that--misspelled, no less--does not make me feel any confidence whatsoever about shopping at Bella Candles.
