Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My son moved into my mother's home and ordered internet service on her phone. This was through my consent as I am her trustee. My son had no problem getting the service without my mother's or my consent.

Unfortunately, he lost his job and couldn't pay the bill. He didn't let me know about the outstanding bill and Verizon sent it to a Debt collector and put a charge off on my mother's credit.

I called Verizon and they told me they couldn't talk to me or to my son who tried to call them. Because the service wasn't in our names.

Why was Verizon so fast to make a sale and not care about talking to the person who's name was on the account? When I have called to try to get this charge off taken off my mother's account Verizon has put me through so much frustration. They couldn't talk to me until I faxed the proof of power of attorney yet they sold the Internet service to my son without any power of attorney.

Can you help me to get this charge off taken off my mother's credit record? Many of my family can easily pay the bill that my son was ashamed to tell us about.

My mother is at the last end of Alzhiemers disease. She is in a very comfortable home which we all pay something to keep her there. It's costly, but my daughter and son were supposed to help with the cost.
I have to let you know that I am in the process of getting a loan from one of my mother's properties because I've had to take money out of my retirement savings because my son hasn't been able to contribute. This is how the whole chargeoff issue came up. I just wanted Verizon to give me a letter saying that this wasn't my mother's debt. My daughter and I can easily pay the outstanding debt anyway, if they would only give us a letter.

They are just so uncooperative. Is there any advice, help you can give me?"
