Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Verizon installers placed two communication boxes in a home where the owner allowed me to use part of the house while my spouse recovered from an operation. It was explained at the time that I would only be there for a short period of time. Now that I requested a disconnection of service, which took place remotely. The problem that I am faced with now is the new person that has moved into the house called to let me know that the Verizon installer refused to take with him the two communication boxes. Verizon has failed to physically render possession of that equipment to me. There was no notice given to me about the method of returning the boxes and certainly no mention of that Verizon would be leaving them unattended. Yet I am held responsible for the equipment. If Verizon had notified me that the installer would not take the equipment and credit my account for returning it there would be no problem.

The question is what legal authority does Verizon have to abandon the boxes and hold me financially responsible for equipment that I never received from the disconnect team. In fact there was no such person, the only person on the site was the new installer. Please help, what can I do to protect myself from being charged for this equipment (short of returning to town in hopes that the new tenant keeps it until I arrive)?"
