Claimant says:
"I think the business practices of the Management Company and the Leasing Office for The Manor
in Plantation Apartments complex are fraudulent, deceptive, and illegal. I was required to pay (1) an application and administrative fee of $350.00; (2) a deposit of $600.00 security deposit; and (3) a pro-rated rent payment of $975.00 - all before seeing a lease. When
I demanded to see the lease a few days prior to when I planned to move, I refused to sign the lease. I believe I am due a $600.00 refund for the security deposit. I did receive a refund of the pro-rated rent today. I now want a return of the security deposit. The Manor Leasing staff
had expected me to come in and read and sign the lease on the morning I was supposed to
collect the keys and move in ! The lease was sent to me online when I demanded to read it a
few days before my schedule move-in and I found it was too onerous, one-sided, and not at all
reflective of the conversations I had with the Leasing Office staff, Mr. Reuter & Ms. Quesada, in
the several weeks preceding my decision to remain at Los Prados. I contend that Federal and
Florida laws mitigate against TRG Management Co., LLP, withholding my security deposit under
the circumstances above outlined.
