Claimant says:
"I researched and found a 5 star company that had been in business for over 50 years. I needed a new engine. I called Texas Motor Exchange and told them I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE for my car. I gave them all my car information and they quoted me a price of 2995.00 with a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty and free towing in Houston,TX where we reside. I called them several times even with a witness on the phone to verify their services. I had my car at a shop that had given me a price of 5500.00. I had to pay him to put my car back together so I could let Texas Motor Exchange come pick it up on 6/28/13. I visited Texas Motor Exchange prior to me selecting it as well to check it out. Don was the same and only guy in the office an aged, experienced looking man which was good, I saw a BBB sticker, and they offered financing all good. Not in any conversations that me and Don had did he say the price might go up on the engine or parts or we might have to check it out or anything and we talked on the phone more than four times. On 7/10/13 I visited the shop to peek at my car and fill out a finance application. Shortly after that Don tells me that it is going to cost now 5900.00 to fix my car...... I signed a contract and agreed to 2995.00 now the cost is double. Thats too much money to miscalculate. He never said anything pre-warning me of this. I clearly stated to him I NEED A NEW ENGINE. How is this fair?"

  • Mrs. Hawkins Lexus was so severely overheated that the price we quoted verbally over the phone, without ever seeing the vehicle, will not properly repair the engine. Apparently Lexus has a recall on many Lexus models with this same engine for a faulty rubber hose. The recall replaces the rubber hose with a metal one. The Lexus that Mrs. Hawkins owns has not have the recall procedure done.
    We are not trying to take advantage of Mrs. Hawkins by any means. If fact we have offered to have her provide us an engine that we will install for the price we quoted. Mrs. Hawkins is currently looking for an engine and will let us know how to proceed in a few days.
