Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"After receiving doctors orders to discontinue tanning because of serious harm to my physical well being, I was told that despite the damage inflicted upon my body I owed them over $500 to cancel my membership. (Doctors written request was present and shown)Because of these reasons I feel that I should be relinquished from the "terms" of my contract, which I might add I never received a copy of. Further more, I don't wish to make a financial gain off of my case, I simply wish to be no longer responsible for the "buy out" of my contract."

  • of course you also have to consider that Tan Republic factors out their membership paper so someone else might own your obligation. If thats the case, you can't really expect TR to allow you out of the contract since they have an obligation to the holder of the paper to make payments. Sorry I don't have a better solution but those are the realities of memberships. Again, they should at least respond to your claim. I'd never do business with anyone who won't at least give you an explanation.

  • I'd agree with the claimant from an ethical standpoint. However, if you signed up for a contract and it doesn't have any release clause you're probably out of luck. I noticed that Tan Republic has an F rating, so I assume they never responded to your claim. That probably says they aren't the most ethical business around. Have you had any correspondence with them outside of PeopleClaim? IF so, what did they say? Does your contract provide for any incapacitation clause? Also, are your health issues related to tanning at this business? If so, who knows, maybe you can bring a larger action for damages. If I were the owner I'd at least respond to your claim and probably prorate back part of your membership. Good luck
