Claimant says:
"I notified Superior Water Light and Power to disconnect utilities (except electricity) at my summer home in Superior, WI because I had the home winterized ($250.00) to save expense of utilites all winter long. They said I had to be there to disconnect. I was already back to Arizona. I don't know a lot of people in the area, but finally found someone who unfortunately sent someone else who was unacceptable to me - (security of the hidden key). While there (approximately October 6th, 2013) SWL&P read the outdoor meters and shut the water off at the street. However, they continue to bill me for gas, water and sewer insisting they must enter the home (even though there is no way any utilities could be used). After trying to find someome else in the area for two months to no avail, I mentioned to SWL&P about the hidden key and they agreed to enter the house with the key. Why did they keep insisting someone had to be there? If they had advised me in the first place that they would go into the home with a key, a lot of stress could have been avoided. I have called them and written and they refuse to credit me for the several weeks billed but not used."

    "Superior Water Light & Power Company has a service agreement with all customers that requires the meters be “read” and “removed” prior to services being disconnected. All customers are told their meters need to be read and removed when they ask to have their services disconnected. Where the meter is inside the house, Superior Water Light & Power Company understandably needs to obtain access from their customers. The failure on the part of a customer to provide timely access to the residence delays having the services disconnected."
