Claimant says:
"My 2007 Highlander Engine died!! All oil changes were done on time as was regular maintanance. I took it to the toyota dealer who did most of my regular maintanace but they responded that it wasn't their fault or problem. In order to diagnose the problem, Toyota charged me $1200 to take apart my engine then told me it would cost $9000 to replace the engine. When I told them I would rather take the car somewhere else and have it replaced for about 1/2 of that price, they threw the engine in the back of my highlander (leaving out most of the sensors and several other parts including the engine mount). My total cost for this is around $7000, not to mention the fact that I had to put another car on the road while my highlander is still being worked on. Seems they are having quite the time, finding parts that Toyota puposely did not return. (I drove the car into Toyota but had to have it towed out to another mechanic). I'd like to know what my options are as far as being reimbursed."

  • I can't believe that an engine blew out at 82,000 miles! What was the problem? I had an issue with a Toyota Camry in Florida. The dealer said that the problem was caused by my not having had all the oil changes done on schedule and so it wouldn't be covered under warranty. Fortunately I always went to the same place and they pulled up all my records. I still had to call national, but eventually the repair was done at no charge. The dealer was ugly about it but he had to do it.
